The Tape Warrior

I really enjoy Kung Fu movies. Both the good ones as the terrible ones.

You usually find a lot of tense stabs, a bunch of hits that can work as snares and percussive layers and a bunch of yelling, weird sounds and sometimes very cool loopable music and everything under this cool lo-fi vibe. I collected a bunch from my last sessions of movies and decided to share. But I went a bit further. I recorded everything I sampled into cassette with a bit of compression. I recorded on a Gradient deck and bounced it again to the computer. 

Later on a nice weekend I managed to fix a walkman I bought on a charity shop and well, used it to play the tape and discovered it plays faster, compresses (I don't know why) the sound a bit more and add a bit more of harshness to the sound, so... I recorded that also.

I went through this huge "cut, save, name" process on 240 samples (I don't know why I do this to myself...). There are 80 "raw" samples and the same samples played by the Gradient deck and the Walkman :)

You can download everything that I sampled from the movie for free, just select the option on the menu. :)
